White Mountains in New Hampshire
We concluded our trip to Canada and New England with a brief
stop in the very familiar White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Lowe’s Bald Spot
Following along the Jackson Road Trail (also the AT) from
the very crowded Pickham Notch Visitors Center, we reached Lowe’s Bald Spot in
time to enjoy our lunch at this very scenic rocky bald. Alan made the claim
that someone must have added rocks to the trail since we last did this hike
about 8 years ago.
A short rest before climbing to the top of the bald

Welch-Dickey
Loop
The Welch Dickey Loop Trail has been our hiking group
favorite each year we have visited the White Mountains. Again the weather cooperated with sunny
skies, although very warm, to make this a spectacular hike. Although only 4.4 miles in length the elevation
change of 1800 feet was challenging.

distance.

Near the end of
the loop
A visit to the Woodstock Inn Restaurant and Brewery was a
fitting end to our travels together. Of course, Joyce and Alan had not walked
enough these past few weeks, so they stayed a few more days and hiked many more
uphill, rocky miles before heading home to New Jersey.
