Posting number 3 for July 14, 2016

When we were near Edmonton a few days ago we spent a lovely morning touring the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village.  This village is a collection of buildings moved from throughout western Canada.  Costumed interpreters re-create the lives of those who lived as early settlers from the turn of the 20th century through the 1930’s.  Their interactions with us were very convincing.

No, we did not stop at the West Edmonton Mall.

We did stop briefly at Mount Robson visitor center as we had hiked in this area last fall on our trip to the Canadian Rockies.  At 3954 meters, Mount Robson is the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies.

Tonight we are located at N54.23105 degrees, W125.78142 degrees and the sunset is 9:51 PM, getting later each night for us. So as you can tell we are now in British Columbia and will be for several more days.

Finally we have seen our first real wildlife – two moose near the road, two coyotes and an elk near Jasper. We could not stop quick enough to get pictures of the moose.

A fascinating ancient red cedar forest.  Many of the trees estimated to be more than 1000 years old.  The largest over 15 feet in diameter.  Made you feel very small.
Almost 2 miles of boardwalk has been constructed by volunteers over a seven year period to make this wet-temperate forest accessible by most.
