Chiricahua National Monument
This art center in Kerrville, TX displays works by living
Western American artists and Western Masters of the past. The current major
exhibit featured the work of Fred Harman, an American cartoonist best known for
his popular Red Ryder and Little Beaver
comic strip.
In Kerrville we also stretched our legs with a walk along
the Guadalupe River and quenched our thirst with a brew at the Pint and Plow.
Model Airplane Museum
A small but interesting museum in Schulenburg, TX follows the
creation by the Stanzel brothers of a model airplane company over several
decades beginning in the late1920s.
Family in Florida
Our first stop in Florida is at brother Steve and wife Barbara
in Venice on the west coast. There we watched and waited for butterflies to
hatch, challenged ourselves at jigsaw puzzles, contested each other at Mexican
Train dominoes, relaxed at their pool (no swimming yet), walked along the nearby
canal and generally slowed down for a few days.
We did try to go to the beach but upon arrival there the “red
tide” invasion caused us to cough and gag. So we left that area immediately.
Traveling next to Stuart on the east coast we spend a few
days with Aunt Fran, who turned 99 years old last December and cousin Jackie.
Aunt Fran, who is a park champion bridge player, consented to try to teach
Carolyn the basics of this complicated game. We also played Mexican Train
dominoes where Aunt Fran proceeded to win the first game.
We hope to help her celebrate her 100th birthday next
December.
Our next stop in Florida is a day at Walt Disney World
Resort - Epcot in Lake Buena Vista. See next posting for that adventure.
